This Spatial Awareness Technique Was The Missing Piece That Allowed Me To Breakthrough To Deep Stage Awakening After 14yrs Of Meditation — Now I Live In Fundamental Peace, Effortless Performance, And Childlike Wonder At The Beauty Of Everyday Life

I am not claiming to be perfect, superior, or one of the “rare few.” I’m simply someone who walked this path until the seeking came to an end, and I feel compelled to share what has worked for me. The practice itself takes around 20-minutes to learn, though of course the real benefits come from the work of making it your baseline state.

The Problem Is… You’ve Tried Dozens Of Different Tools For Years & Yet You Still Deal With Many Of The Same Fears, Doubts & Insecurities

Does any of this sound familiar…

Of course, you’re not alone. This is what the vast majority of people experience, even experienced meditators.

The Reason Years Of Spiritual Practice & Meditation Hasn’t Led To Abiding Peace & Awakening

Traditional meditation versus spatial awareness

Have you ever wondered why there are hundreds of thousands of people going to vipassana retreats every year, taking plant medicines, using meditation apps, attending breathwork sessions, reading self-help and spiritual books…

… and yet when you look around, there are so few people who ever achieve abiding awakening.

Why is that?

Well, my position, based on 14 years of practice and of fully transitioning, is that it’s because most of these traditional techniques are focused on an intermediary step. Focus on the breath. Scan the sensations in the body. Practice loving-kindness. Heal the body.

I’m not saying that any of these things are bad. They can be tremendously powerful and helpful to hone the concentration and improve our lives on a practical level.

But the ONLY way to truly wake up is to look directly, for yourself, at the ultimate truth of no self.

Introducing

The Spatial Awareness Practice

A direct pointing to the ultimate state of no-self that also happens to “fix” your practical, worldly problems at the same time.

Here’s the basic process

  1. 1
    Narrow focus creates stress
  2. 2
Spatial awareness widens the focus & calms the nervous system
  3. 3
This creates more capacity so unprocessed emotions start to arise into awareness
  4. 4
Sitting with them in the state of “spatial awareness” allows them to be released
  5. 5
The more you do this the more you feel peace, joy, equanimity & effortless performance

The mechanism

Here’s Why Spatial Awareness Works

There are many different lenses we can use to explain why this works: from the scientific, to spiritual, logical & emotional.

Evolutionary Biology

Narrow attention keeps us stuck in stress, fear & anxiety

50,000 years ago, if there was a rustle in the bush, the ability to lock everything onto that one point of focus is what kept you alive and carried on your genes. This is called narrow attention and it's what the brain does when it feels in danger.

The problem is that, despite now living in objectively safer times, our brain hardware hasn't been upgraded. We still have the same brain. And so it is STILL constantly scanning for danger.

This is why a small social slip plays on repeat in your mind for days. It's why you lie in bed at night, completely safe, with so much cortisol coursing through your veins that you can't sleep.

Narrow attention = fight or flight state

Spatial Awareness is you learning to widen your focus. You become aware of the full 180° of your visual field, opening up the full aperture of your awareness.

This gives the brain the exact physical signal it evolved to read as “we are safe here” and it deeply calms the nervous system.

Wide attention = rest & digest state

Self-Inquiry

How looking directly at the space within & without collapses the distinction between the two

“Who am I?”

You’ve probably heard of this classic teaching from Ramana Maharshi. It’s the basis of all self-enquiry style practices. I tried this for years, and yet I never broke through.

It was this spatial awareness practice that finally changed everything for me.

The reason this worked for me, where so many other practices failed, was because through the practice you are looking directly into the truth of no-self.

Here’s how it works:

  1. You look within and see that it is just empty space.
  2. You look without and see that it is just empty space.
  3. Over time the distinction between within/without collapses
  4. It all just becomes empty space
  5. This helps us to directly look into the ultimate truth of no-self on a moment-to-moment basis

Emotional Release

The root cause of all our problems is our inability to deal with our emotional experience

Why are you scared to launch the business? Why are you scared to put content out there? Why are you scared to walk over and talk to that attractive someone?

Not because of the thing itself. We are scared of our own emotional reaction to these things. If being publicly shamed made you feel GOOD, you would be dancing naked on the street every morning!

We avoid doing these things because there is a “bad” feeling associated with certain triggers. And we spend our entire lives avoiding these “bad” feelings. Through alcohol, scrolling, sex, socializing, working, whatever your particular vices are.

Human transformation lies in changing how you relate to your emotions

Imagine if you LOVED the fact that grief, shame, or anger was arising in your experience… because it meant that it was now ready to be processed and released.

The mechanism works like this:

  1. Spatial awareness creates more relaxation and safety in the nervous system.
  2. This, in turn, makes you more sensitive to your emotions, like how relaxing a tense muscle suddenly makes you more aware of your whole body
  3. These suppressed emotions start to “bubble up” into your awareness
  4. Holding the spatial awareness allows you to stay open and non-reactive to them, which allows them to be processed and released, via shakes, tears, burps, convulsions, sweat, etc
  5. The more of these you release, the more incredible, beautiful, and present your everyday experience of life is.

High Performance

How clearing emotions helps to get rid of resistance and perform at your peak day-in day-out

You’ve probably heard of (and felt) the resistance. This “wall of emotion” that you come up against anytime you try to work, study, exercise…

Steven Pressfield named the mechanism in The War Of Art. But what he didn't answer was: why do we even experience resistance in the first place?

When I go to grab a glass of water: no resistance.

When I want to read a book in bed: no resistance.

When I try to work on the business: resistance.

When I think about going to the gym: resistance.

I tried powering through for years. And guess what? Every morning I would wake up and there would be the resistance again, ready for another fight.

Then one day I decided to do something differently. Every time I would feel resistance to a task, I would set a 3hr timer and would sit and do this spatial awareness practice. Over time, I worked through one resistance after another. And by doing this I turned tasks that I hated with every fiber of my being, like cold calling for example, into tasks that I genuinely enjoyed.

The more I sat with these emotions, the less resistance I felt. The less resistance, the less procrastination. The less procrastination, the more work done more efficiently.

The Science Of Brain Waves

How Spatial Awareness helps you live in “Synchronous Alpha”

Your brain runs at different frequencies depending on what it's doing.

Delta, 0.5 to 4 Hz. Dominant during deep, dreamless sleep and tied to physical restoration and immune function.

Theta, 4 to 8 Hz. Light sleep, the drift just before you nod off, deep meditation, and the loose associative state where you get ideas in the shower.

Beta, 12 to 30 Hz. Normal waking consciousness. Problem-solving, conversation, focused attention. The upper end of the range is associated with stress and anxious, racing thought.

Alpha, 8 to 12 Hz. Relaxed and alert. This is the state you feel when you sit in nature and feel totally at ease.

Modern life pushes almost everything toward Beta. Screens, notifications, decisions, deadlines.

Alpha is the one you want. Relaxation and calm alertness, awake and clear, but not braced.

Spatial awareness is a direct route into Synchronous Alpha, and because it’s an anchor we can use 24/7 throughout the day, it’s a way to stay in that state more and more. This gives us that “relaxed in conversation with good friends” feeling that all is well, that life is good, that we’re at peace.

Success

How “clarity” is more important than “hustle”

Modern society programs you that you need to grind 16 hours a day to become successful. This could be called the “Alex Hormozi” view on life and success. That's great for him, and it clearly worked to bring him material success.

But does that make it the only way to succeed? Or the most efficient? Or even the best way to achieve true success, which in my opinion is the joy, and the loss of self, that comes when we are fully immersed in the act of doing without attachment to outcome?

Let's look at examples of outlier success:

Warren Buffett spends most of his working day sitting in a chair reading and thinking. And he's said his results came down to a small handful of decisions across an entire career.

Peter Thiel invested $500k into Facebook in 2004 for 10% of the company. That one decision made him a billionaire.

Richard Feynman lost his appetite for physics entirely after the war, and decided he'd only play with things that interested him. Sitting in the cafeteria, he watched someone throw a plate in the air and became fascinated by the way it wobbled as it spun. He worked out the maths for fun. That led directly to his work on quantum electrodynamics that won him the Nobel in 1965.

Was that hard work? Grind? Or were these people open and attuned, and they simply moved quickly when a high-leverage opportunity was presented to them?

Clarity. Awareness. Openness to world-changing ideas that float in from the ether. These seem to be far more what matters to create outlier success.

And how does one get that? By clearing all of the stuff clogging the pipes (emotions, thought, identity) so that we are open, attuned, and living in the flow of life at all times.

Truth

It’s our interpretation of reality that causes us suffering

This is how we process information:

Objective Data → Our Distortion Filter (beliefs, thoughts, emotions) → Subjective Experience

The only way to see the truth is to get rid of the filter.

Think about this for example…

A man asks a woman if she wants to get a drink on Tuesday. She says she can't make it.

Depending on his level of distortion, that raw data, a text saying “no I can't make it,” may rattle around the stories in his head. I'm ugly. I'll never get married. I'll never be good with women. I'll never be like XYZ person.

That's not TRUTH. That's interpretation.

Someone who has cleared these distortions hears something else entirely. “She can't make it on Tuesday.” Cool, maybe I'll ask her if Thursday works. Or maybe she isn't interested and so I just move on with my life. There is no reverberation inside where this data bounces off various identities and beliefs. The raw data of reality is seen for what it is.

You cannot see reality as it is until you clear that filter. And every belief or emotion you clear with the spatial awareness technique is one more piece of that filter gone.

This Is Not For The Faint Of Heart

A man seated as shadow forms circle him and light breaks through

At first, it’s beautiful. The nervous system settles. The mind quiets down in a way you’ve probably never experienced. There’s a spaciousness to your days that wasn’t there before, and you get your first real taste of what all these people have been pointing at. Things feel light.

But this stage doesn’t last, and it’s not supposed to.

Because the thing that was holding all that material down was the sense of self. And as the self loosens its grip, everything it’s been suppressing for your entire life starts coming up to be worked through. This is where the real work begins.

This practice will trigger deep shadow work where all of your unprocessed material comes up to the surface. All the most difficult emotions that you’ve been avoiding your entire life. The deepest shame, fear, anger, grief. All of these things that are so difficult you’ve not even been able to look at them. And the minute you DO touch into them, you do anything in your power to distract yourself through all of your favourite vices.

The good news is that this is absolutely necessary. It’s the only possible way to experience deep peace, joy, and truth. You have to go through it. And by going through all this shadow material, you come closer and closer to reality as it really is, until at some point you fully transition and there is no going back. This is awakening.

This is serious, and it’s only for those who are serious about transformation and not looking for a band-aid to make them feel better. YES, feeling better happens. But so does feeling way fucking worse, for a time.

The benefit is that you get so equanimous that beyond a certain point you don’t actually give a shit either way.

Your guide

Hi, I’m Rob Rhau

Rob Rhau

In 2007 I was 20 years old, living at my mother’s house and I felt miserable about it. So I figured I needed to find a way to make a lot of money so I could live on my own.

That’s when I found trading. I built my own trading systems and grew a $10,000 account to over $100,000. And I remember thinking, when I finally get out of my mom’s house, I’m going to be happy.

I got the apartment. Then I told myself, I’m only renting right now, but when I finally buy my own place, that’s when I’m going to be happy. So I bought my own place in a luxury building.

Then I got used to that, and I was like, once I get a BMW, then I’ll be happy. I got the BMW and then I was like, the BMW is nice but I’m not going to be happy until I have a Lamborghini. So I bought one. Sure, I was happy for a few moments. Maybe a month or two. It was an older Gallardo and it was in the shop pretty much half the time I had it, so I decided that was the problem. I needed a brand new one. I got the brand new one. That lasted a few months.

I got up to about six million dollars. I achieved every single thing they said success was. I did it. And it wasn’t all that it was cracked up to be.

Meanwhile, I didn’t have a healthy outlet for my emotions. I wasn’t really enjoying what I was doing, I had all this suppressed emotion building up, and the thing I thought would make me happy hadn’t. Because of all that, I sabotaged myself. I lost a six-million-plus account in a matter of three weeks.

It really made me start to question everything. Why society aspires so much to success, and why success is never exactly what you crack it up to be.

That’s when I started really devoting myself to understanding the human condition. Science, research, spirituality, staying faithful to the intersection between ancient wisdom, neuroscience and psychology, and applying those practices diligently to free myself from suffering. Because I told myself I never wanted to go back to the kind of meaningless success I’d reached before.

Like many of you, I experienced the highs and lows, the moments of deep stillness and frustrating plateaus. But it wasn’t until I integrated the practices that I teach today that I found the unshakeable peace and joy that I had been seeking.

And these aren’t just fleeting moments. This is my baseline experience of life.

My moment to moment experience has been more incredible than I ever thought was possible. And it doesn’t ever stop, it just keeps deepening further and further as you continue to apply it.

Now, I do want to be very clear here. I’m not perfect, and life throws quote unquote challenges my way just like it does for everyone else. But what has changed is my response and my experience of life. Life feels perfect even when quote unquote challenges do come up, because I’ve learned to navigate it with a sense of inner stillness and calm. In fact, calling them challenges is a stretch, as they’re more like situations or arisings at this point.

Something that I couldn’t even say as little as four or five years ago.

Getting here took me over 10,000 hours of meditation and sitting with my emotions. But when I got there, I realised there was a way to shortcut pretty much the entire process. A way to point directly at the state I was experiencing.

That’s what I teach now.

P.S. This practice will trigger deep shadow work, and everything you’ve been avoiding will come up to the surface. That is not a side effect, it is the mechanism. Every emotion you release is one more piece of the filter gone, and what’s on the other side of it is your actual life, seen clearly, for the first time. If for any reason you want a refund, just email us and we’ll process it right away.

Your Questions Answered

Is there a guarantee?

Yes. A 30-day money back guarantee. Do the training, do the practice, and if it isn’t for you, email any time within 30 days and you get every penny back. No questions asked.

Do I need any meditation experience?

None. And if you have always been bad at meditation, that is usually a sign this will suit you. Being bad at meditation almost always means being bad at holding a narrow focus without getting distracted. This asks the opposite of you. There is no target to hold, so there is nothing to lose your grip on.

What if I don’t feel anything the first time?

Perfectly okay, and Rob says so directly. If you have been narrow-focusing on objects your entire life it takes a bit of practice to begin relaxing and paying attention to space instead. It gets clearer every session.

I can’t stop thinking. Is that a problem?

No. It is perfectly normal to be distracted and get lost in thought, often, especially when you are starting out. When it happens you simply acknowledge it and come back to the audio. That noticing is not a failure in the practice. It is the practice.

How long does it take?

Around 20 minutes to learn. The guided practice itself runs about 11 minutes. The daily version takes no extra time at all, because it can be done while you are doing other things and being active in the world.

Do I need equipment or a quiet space?

Headphones, and somewhere you can close your eyes for ten minutes. That is the entire list.

Is this religious or spiritual?

What Rob shares is a culmination of neuroscience, neuropsychology, evolutionary psychology and biology. He explains the mechanism, then hands you the practice. It does point at what traditions call no-self, but you are asked to look for yourself rather than believe anything.

What does an emotional release actually feel like?

It can be shakes, tears, burps, convulsions, sweat, or sometimes even nausea. It sounds dramatic written down. In practice it is your nervous system letting go of something it has been holding, and it passes.

How do I remember to do it during the day?

Rob’s own method: set three alarms on your phone, spread through the day, and label them Practise Spatial Awareness. That builds a trigger into your environment so the practice actually happens rather than being something you meant to do.

How long do I have access?

Lifetime. Come back to it whenever you want.

I’ve started things like this before and quit. How is this different?

Almost everything you have quit needed a slot in your day. This does not. It runs inside the day you were already having, which is exactly why it survives the weeks when nothing else does.
